June 2017 NEWS FROM NHADA

Tom Balon is the new owner of the Concord Antiques Gallery in Concord, New Hampshire.  Tom has many interests including renewable electric power generation, vintage racing and sports cars as well as the development and preservation of architecturally interesting commercial buildings.  He purchased the building that houses the Concord Antiques Gallery about three years ago.  It didn’t take long for Tom to become intrigued by the high level of activity at the gallery, as well as the social aspects of the antiques business, and when the opportunity to purchase the business came up, he bought it.  Now he would love to find a second building in Concord that would allow him to expand the business and add more furniture and larger pieces to the eclectic mix of antiques and vintage goods that are currently offered in approximately 155 individual booth spaces, covering two floors, at 97 Storrs Street in downtown Concord.

Nestled in a valley between Mt. Assurance and Mascoma Lake, off of Route 4A, in Enfield, New Hampshire, the Enfield Shaker site has been cherished for over 200 years.  The Museum is especially wonderful to visit in the summer months when you can    explore the Museum’s herb and flower gardens, fields and hills.  Hours from now through December are 10:00 to 4:00, Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4:00 on Sundays.  This peaceful place is guaranteed to take you out of the fast lane…..for a while.

NHADA extends a warm welcome to new members, Tracy Dodge and Steve Lipman, of 14E King Antiques, Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. They have an open shop and specialize in country furniture in original paint, stoneware, redware, hooked rugs, and textiles.

New updated NHADA directories have been distributed to all members.  Be sure to pick up a copy when you are out and about antiquing.

And a quick mention again to plan on the annual NHADA show, August 10 – 12, 2017, celebrating it’s 60th year!
