April 2017 News from NHADA

NHADA sends condolences to the friends and families of John Hart, of Nimmo and Hart Antiques, and Paul Fredyma, of Marie-Louise Antiques, both long time members of NHADA.  Nimmo and Hart Antiques, based in Middle Springs, Vermont, for over 4 decades, was known for early English furniture and choice smalls.  Paul, and his wife Marie Louise, of Hanover, NH, were specialists and early researchers of antique silversmiths and published seven books on New England silversmiths, clock and watchmakers. The knowledge contributed to the trade, by of all of these dealers, was extensive.

Speaking of knowledge, please mark your calendars for a special exhibit at Discover Portsmouth, “Four Centuries of Furniture in Portsmouth”, opening Friday, April 7th and running thru Sunday, June 18th.  Discover Portsmouth, 10 Middle Street, is open daily, from March 18th thru December 23, 2017, 9:30 to 5:00.  NHADA recently made a donation to Discover Portsmouth in support of their work in preserving and sharing NH history and antique artifacts.

NHADA member shops have some fun events coming up.  Thomas Bartlett Antiques & Oddments, Chichester, NH, will be having their “Sale-abration” from March 18th through the 26th, with wine and cheese on March 18th & 19th.  They are open 7 days a week, 10-4.  York Antiques Gallery, in Maine, is having their annual spring sale April 1-9. Open 7 days a week, 10-5.  Get a jump on your spring antiquing!

Work continues on the Diamond Anniversary Show of NHADA, scheduled for August 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2017!  A wine and cheese event for the public will be added this year on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and special treats on Saturday as well.  A reminder that attendees, 30 years and under, are admitted to the show free on all three days!

I received an email from Russ and Karen Goldberger, RJG Antiques, who wanted folks to know that they will not be exhibiting at this year’s show, as they are planning to sell and downsize their home this spring and anticipate being in the throes of moving during the show.  We will miss them but will be looking forward to their return.

NHADA welcomes two new members this month.  From Hillsborough, NH, Richard and Diane Angelo, Keystone Crossing Antiques, who specialize in 18th century furniture and exhibit at the New Hampshire Antiques Co-Op in Milford, NH.  From Southampton, MA, Mark McHugh and Spencer Gordon, Spencer Marks, Ltd,, specializing in fine antique and 20th century silver.  They exhibit at the Philadelphia Antiques Show, the Delaware Antiques Show, the Washington Winter Show, and the Baltimore Antiques show.

As always, I welcome email from all members at lizk99@gmail.com, text & phone calls, 603-491-4225.  Send me your news please!
