Happy Valentine’s Day! This hand-carved love tok
Happy Valentine’s Day! This hand-carved love token is engraved with the initials “JF” and “TF.” Previously sold by NHADA dealer Don Olson @earlypieces, it is special because of its unique form, remarkable untouched surface of crusty red paint, and being from ash burl (a personal favorite of Don’s). Nearly two centuries later, it survives as a testament to a love shared by the carver and the receiver of this wonderful gift. Don Olson is a member of NHADA because our organization is “a community that understands how to ‘see’ and appreciate objects made by our ancestors,” and to help those in the community find dealers like himself and their offerings. This quilt features hundreds of artfully arranged and expertly pieced cotton fragments to create a large central star against a black background, creating a dazzling effect.
