NHADA NOTES

I’m back from a few days in NYC where I spent time at a few shows, and got a dose of big city life. Talk about culture shock! It is a treat to visit and soak up the hustle and bustle, but it’s also just wonderful to be back in the boonies.
The TAAS Show was quite an experience with some of our NHADA members showing beautiful things. Russ and Karen Goldberger, Peter Eaton and Joan Brownstein, Jewett-Berdan, Cherry Gallery, Stella Rubin, Arthur Liverant,
Pat and Rich Garthoeffner, the Herrs, Amy Finkel, Judy and Jim Milne, Mark and Marjorie Allen -- They all did us proud. Spent some time talking to Pat Garthoeffner about her exciting new role at Heart of Country. She is giving the show a big boost, with a great dealer list. The life of the dealer has a unique rhythm, from NY to Nashville to New England, to PA. It’s not for the faint of heart. By the way, our own Bev Longacre is a featured speaker at the Heart show. Christmas is her specialty, and if her presentation has the flavor of the things I saw at the Longacre home in December, the folks in Nashville are in for a major treat. We are lucky to have one of the true experts on Christmas collecting right here in Marlborough.

The 2008 Directory is almost ready for distribution, and we are really proud of it this year. We opened a few full pages for advertising and we thank the members who stepped up and took ads. Look for the Directory”s arrival in the next few weeks.

Work progresses on the all-member show which will replace Blue Ribbon. Ken Reid of Andover is at the helm, and he is following up on some exciting leads. This is will be in the schedule for 2009.

The dealer list is complete for the NHADA Show in August, and we welcome several new faces to the roster. This will be a spectacular show with a really vital list of active exhibitors who are already saving special things for the show.
It may seem a long time from now, but one thing we learn as we age, time really does fly. Watch for ads and write-ups in the months to come.

Be careful in the mud, and watch for the early birds and the first crocus, and please visit our wonderful state. The latchkey is out!
